The situation

A real estate startup needed a platform where owners could list flats for rent, in a market where fake and stale listings are the default reason renters stop trusting a marketplace. Trust was the product, not a feature of it.

What made it hard

  • Establishing that a listed flat is genuine, without putting a human inspector in the loop for every listing
  • Ranking results usefully against preferences rather than by recency alone
  • Verifying media authenticity at upload time rather than after a complaint

What we did

Built from scratch with verification as the core workflow rather than a moderation afterthought. Listing submission captures structured detail, multiple images and a live video recording with a geolocation check; everything then runs through an asynchronous multi-step verification pipeline so the upload experience stays fast while the checking happens behind it.

What was built

Listing workflow

  • Structured property submission form
  • Minimum five high-quality images per listing
  • Live video capture with geolocation checks

Verification pipeline

  • Asynchronous multi-step verification on a durable queue
  • Computer-vision checks on media authenticity
  • Model-assisted content validation

Search & ranking

  • Ranking against stated user preferences
  • Filters across location, price and amenities
  • Preference prediction feeding result ordering
